As a non-native speaker with solid English skills, the ICAO English Test PRO helped me achieve the ultimate result: ICAO Level 6. For any professional pilot with a profound command of aviation English, this test is the ideal way to reach your full potential with lifetime validity.

I passed my language check with sayagain.aero at Level 5! The pre-exam coaching really helped boost my confidence. As a private pilot planning to fly abroad, this was an important step. Great experience – highly recommended!

Taking your ICAO Language Proficiency Test may not be everyone’s favorite task. To change that, we’ve built a process that makes the experience simple, supportive, and aligned with real-world flying.

With sayagain.aero, you can take your test comfortably online from home and choose from flexible appointments, often available at short notice. In most cases, you’ll receive your ICAO English certificate within 36 hours, and if you need it faster, we’re happy to help make that possible.

What makes the experience different is our team. Our examiners are active commercial pilots, so the test feels more like a professional conversation between colleagues than a formal interview. Our goal is simply to help you perform at your best and achieve the ICAO level that truly reflects your language skills.

To help you feel confident before the exam, we also provide preparation materials that walk you through the key parts of the test, including picture descriptions, listening tasks, and the conversation section.

All exams are conducted fully in line with EASA regulations, and our dual-examiner system ensures a reliable assessment that is widely accepted by aviation authorities.

In short, we aim to make the process clear, fair, and supportive so you can focus on what really matters: flying

Our team consists of commercial pilots who fly as Captain or First Officer for major European airlines and business aviation providers. The company is located near Munich, while our examiners are based throughout Europe.

Our goal is to simplify the process of the ICAO English Test while creating a relaxed atmosphere during the exam, so that everyone can reach their full potential.

The ICAO Language Proficiency Test BASIC is a shorter exam designed to certify ICAO Level 4. It is suitable for private pilots who need ICAO Level 4 to communicate in English and for glider pilots planning international flights.

The ICAO Language Proficiency Test PRO does not limit the result to a specific level. Instead, you receive the highest ICAO level that matches your language ability. It is not uncommon for candidates to underestimate themselves and end up being pleasantly surprised with a higher ICAO level than expected. This is ideal for pilots who want to achieve ICAO Level 5 or ICAO Level 6, which are often required in commercial aviation.

Reaching ICAO English Level 6 provides a lifetime qualification without the need for further renewal tests. For this reason, we especially recommend the PRO test for aspiring or professional pilots who want the best career opportunities.

Yes, in addition to the radio operator’s license, you must also prove your language proficiency in the language used for radio communication.

Regardless of whether you are flying VFR or IFR, you need a valid language proficiency certificate if you wish to communicate in English, for example.

There are six ICAO language proficiency levels ranging from ICAO level 1 to 6.

  • ICAO level 1 is considered the lowest level and indicates that the person has little or no ability to communicate in English.
  • ICAO level 2 signifies a limited ability to communicate.
  • ICAO level 3 confirms an operational proficiency in English, but with some limitations.
  • ICAO level 4 is the minimum level required for pilots and air traffic controllers. It certifies an operational proficiency in English with occasional errors or misunderstandings. (Renewal after 4 years)
  • ICAO level 5 indicates a higher level of proficiency where the person is able to communicate effectively and accurately in a variety of contexts. (Renewal after 6 years)
  • ICAO level 6 is considered the highest level and certifies full and accurate communication in English, even in complex or unfamiliar situations. (Lifetime validity)

Yes! Our test is valid for initial issue, renewal, and extension. The new validity period starts from the date of the test for 4 or 6 years, or in the case of Level 6, lifelong. The testing process for initial issue, renewal, or extension is the same.

Our ICAO language certificate for ICAO Levels 4-6 is recognized by all EASA member states, as the exam is conducted with both a primary and secondary examiner.

The examination is administered through the EASA-certified process of the Austrian Language Training Body (LTB) 112 and complies with ICAO guidelines. Austro Control oversees the LTB112 on behalf of EASA.

Our language examiners (LPE/LPLE) are continually qualified in accordance with ICAO DOC 9835 and work with the ICAO Rating Scale FCL Appendix 2 plus the requirements of FCL.055.

Whether you’re a student pilot, private pilot, or commercial pilot, we conduct your ICAO Language Proficiency Test easily online via Zoom. This saves you the travel time and allows you to take the test flexibly from anywhere at any time – ideal if you’re frequently on the go. In a familiar setting, you’ll likely feel more relaxed and can achieve your best result.

The ICAO Language Proficiency Test is fully online, allowing you to receive your certificate quickly. All you need is a stable internet connection and a camera.

For your preparation, we have compiled some typical exam examples for you.
At the end of the examination, you can expect an open conversation with the examiner on any topics that you would like to choose. Naturally, you should focus on areas where you are well-versed in the vocabulary and/or where you feel confident communicating in English professionally or personally.

The exam time window is chosen so that it can start immediately after the connection is established. You should make sure that you have a stable internet connection and that the camera and microphone are functioning properly. You can use Zoom. in a browser via the invitation link in our confirmation of appointment, but we recommend downloading and installing the app for a stable exam process. If you haven't used Zoom before, you can find a brief tutorial here.

First, questions will be played for you as an audio file. You will also be shown an image with an aviation context, which you should describe as best as you can. Another component is spelling and reading frequencies and altitudes according to ICAO guidelines. This is followed by a free conversation with your examiner.

For the ICAO LPT BASIC, you will only have 12 questions and a 10-minute open conversation.

For the ICAO LPT PRO, you can expect 18 questions and a 15-minute open conversation with the examiner. The test concludes with an additional listening task based on an ATIS or real radio transmission.

Important: Although we mainly operate in the context of aviation, it is never about technical knowledge, but only about the correct use of the English language. Please take a look at our exam examples page!

First, it's important to understand: although we talk a lot about aviation in the test, we NEVER test your theoretical knowledge, but only your English language skills and understanding. Making mistakes is human and understandable, and your examiner will evaluate them with discretion. Nobody is perfect ;-)

The ICAO Language Proficiency Test PRO takes approximately 40–45 minutes, while the ICAO Language Proficiency Test BASIC takes around 30–35 minutes.

The assessment will take place on Zoom at the scheduled time. After booking, you will receive an email with all the information.

You will find a detailed explanation of the evaluation criteria for the respective ICAO level here.

The audio channel of our exams is recorded and uploaded to a certified Second Level Examiner (SLE).

With our ICAO Language Proficiency Test PRO you will automatically receive the highest possible level according to your language skills.

With the shorter and cheaper ICAO Language Proficiency Test BASIC your language level will not exceed Level 4.

But if you want to improve and enhance your aircrew qualification, we strongly recommend to go for our ICAO Language Proficiency Test PRO.

You will receive your ICAO language certificate promptly by email once your assessment has been completed. You can then submit it to your licensing authority to have your new language level endorsed in your license. Along with your certificate, we will provide clear guidance and all the information you need for the next steps.

No. We communicate only with you. After the test, you will receive your certificate by email and can then submit it to your civil aviation authority.

Our examiners all work as pilots for airlines, which is why we always wait for their duty schedules before publishing new appointments. This is done no later than the end of the month for the following month.

If you don't see any availabilities or would like to schedule an appointment in the future, feel free to send us an email at support@say-again.aero.

Please feel free to send us an email with your request to support@say-again.aero and we will respond to you promptly, even on weekends or holidays.
